How do I add icons to my GPX file?
See instructions.

How to combine GPX files into one per day?
See instructions.

How to give tracks the right color?
See instructions.

Why would I use 'information about the optional tracks'?
The triangle icon (Triangle, Blue) represents a choice on the route and is shown on the map while driving long before you are at that point. With the information provided (extra time for example), you have some time to decide if you're going to take the alternative/optional/offroad/shortcut track.

How do I get those triangle icons (route info) on my route?
Use the advance mapping of POI2PIC: Add a POI to your main route with the following (example) names:

  • Triangle, Red Start cut-off route
  • Pin, Red End cut-off route
  • Triangle, Blue Start Opt Siran loop (16 min)
  • Pin, Blue End Opt Siran loop
  • Triangle, Green Start offroad part 1
  • Pin, Green End offroad

Note that only the first two keywords are needed to define the icon. See the mapping for the correct keyword usage.

How do I get other icons on my route?
Use certain keywords in your POI naming or add an icon ID to your POI name.

How do you define how much longer or shorter an alternative route is (in MRA)?

  1. Check (or open) the alternative route and note the full driving time.
  2. Open the main route and place the right pins (not POIs) on your main route (in MRA) for the beginning and endpoint of an alternative route. Calculate the difference in time between the two pins.
  3. Place a POI at the beginning of the alternative route and extend the name with the difference in time (calculated difference between 1 & 2).
